Singleton Lake (Autumn Colours) Outing

Philip Hinton writes:

On Sunday a group from APS met with members of  Friends of Singleton Lake for a shot of autumn colours.  We were rewarded with sightings of Kingfishers flying back and forth across the lake and a Little Egret flying across as well.  Martin Till led the group, giving plenty of good advice on how we could get the best images from around the lake.

Here are a selection of photographs taken during the morning:

Zombie Walk Outing

Sean Harding writes:

Great turn out on a sunny Saturday (30.Oct) afternoon down at Folkestone for the Zombie Walk.  The zombies started at the old train station at 3pm and walked along Folkestone Arm and back.  Then there were prizes for best Zombie.  With many great opportunities for lots of photos it is a shame this was the last time the event will be held.

Marjorie Burge writes:

On Friday 28th October Gary Carter CPAGB judged The Tony Culver Trophy Portrait Competition. Gary is a member of Seaford Photographic Society, and Junior Vice President of the KCPA. There was a good entry in the competition with 26 prints and 50 PDI’s for Gary to comment upon. I was struck by the careful observations made by Gary on not only the figure forming the portrait but of every little detail in the background. Possibly because I sit in the back row many of these details would have been missed if he hadn’t given them special mention, and of course they are all part of the complete image entered. In all images the eyes were central to success, with tonality of skin tones a close second, He liked the images to ‘tell a story’ and for the models to be at ease with the photographer.  Cropping and the use of a square format was recommended for some images, and light areas, as always, needed to be toned down.  Gary was always positive with his comments and while…
